The Right Advice

Exercise Right week is an annual campaign by Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA) to show the benefits of exercise for health and wellbeing. 
This year’s theme is “The Right Advice”. 

In today’s world there is a lot of misinformation about what exercises to do or the best approach for a specific health condition or goal but exercise is not a ‘one size fits all’. Each individual should seek ‘the right advice’ from an ESSA Accredited Exercise Physiologist, who are university-qualified allied health professionals with knowledge and skills to design, deliver and evaluate safe and effective exercise interventions for individuals with medical conditions, injuries and disabilities. 

Today we focus on exercising right for Chronic Conditions like cancer, musculoskeletal conditions, cardiovascular diseases, mental health conditions, substance abuse disorders and neurological conditions, which contribute to about two thirds of Australia’s total burden of disease. Exercise plays an important role in managing chronic conditions and reducing the level of burden (the impact of living with a chronic disease) in all aspects. It can also play a key role in the prevention of chronic disease.
